How I got my Driving Licenses (DL) in Brno.

How I got my Driving Licenses (DL) in Brno (Czech Republic - (CR)).

It was interesting and exhausting...
I do have DL from my country. But unfortunately it is not accepted in Czech Republic; I could not change it to Czech DL. So I decided to take course and pass exam.

Although I can drive, I still took driving courses; 5 times and it costed me 3,500.00 kČ. Driving school provides test materials to study.

Also I prepared myself for test exam, which held in Czech language. I had to pay 1,500.00 kČ to translator and 700.00 kČ for test exam itself.

Well, I passed both and next step was to gather all necessary papers and apply for DL card in "Odbor dopravy Magistrátu města Brna" (OD).

This is main part and reason why I am posting this story :)
I had to visit OD 2 times and try to understand and explain them.
So, I had to provided following documents:

  • Confirmation of employment -  you can ask from your HR.
  • Confirmation of medical insurance - I asked from payroll but OD didn't accept it, so I went to MSSZ and requested "payment proof of insurance". They give it same day.
  • Accommodation contract - basically rental document from landlord.
    •  Here is funny part. When they noticed that my wife's name also noted in the contact, they asked her to come and sign paper, which basically says that we are couple and  live together from specific date.
  • Confirmation from driving school - after successfully passing exam, you will get confirmation from driving school.
  • Bank account movement for last 6 months of one calendar year - I applied in April 2018, so I had to show them 2 half of 2017 (total 6 months). They basically need to be sure that you are really paying for your rent. So print it, just mark lines of payment (rent) and you can cover the amount.
  • One extra contract to (double-check) proof your accommodation - I just gave them UPC internet contract.
After 2 weeks I went back, paid 200 CZK and got license.

Thank you for reading my story.
