If you love wine and castle - visit Valtice

Ahoj All,

Well, today we visited the small town of Valtice in Břeclav District. Main destination was Valtice Castle (Zámek Valtice). This trip also was memorable, so I am posting about it.

Courtyard, #11 on brochure

It will take 1 hour to reach the town, from Brno main station  Valtice město station (one transfer at Břeclav); it is better to take train which departure at 08:36 or 10:36 (Brno hl. nad.). Return departure time is 12:17 or 14:17 (respectively). So, it means you will have almost 3 hours, which is enough to walk from station to castle and to take 1 hour guided tour.

But before starting tour go to the wine shop. Why? Because they have AMAZING wines. Maybe I do drink 1 or 2 glass of wine in a year, but I have to admit wine which I tasted is SUPERB. Also I could see how other people we were enjoying wines. You can buy whole bottle or taste almost every type of wine.

Wine Salon, #21 on brochure

You can buy tour tickets from Ticket office before (#1 on brochure) and then go to 1st floor (#2 on brochure). I guess tour runs every hour, it takes 55 minutes maximum. Our tour started at 12:20. It is hard to express anything about tour itself, cause you have see and feel each room, each picture or each item yourself. But I am sure you will love it as we loved it. Tour in Czech, but you can ask for text on paper in English.

Actually, there are many parts of the castle, which you can visit, but we did short visit. Be careful, in the ticket office there is souvenir shop, very hard to resist :) Interestingly you can take your pet while visit - it is allowed.

After tour you will have time for quick snack or even lunch; there are dozen decent cafe and restaurants. Of course all of them have WINE!

Major tip: As the town located in JMK (South Moravian Region), buy the weekend ticket - costs 150 kč, applies all zones except 100+101 during weekend (24 hours from validation), 2 adults + 3 kids.

Thank you for reading my story.
