How to Apostille a Document by Postal in the Czech Republic

If you need to apostille a document (example birth certificate) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, you can do so by postal. Here’s a simple guide on how to proceed:


1. Complete the Application Form

  • Download and fill out the Application Form for document verification.
  • Details to Include:
    • The country where the document will be used.
    • Your full mailing address for the return of the verified document.
    • Your phone number or email address for any necessary contact.
    • The number of stamp duty stamps you’re enclosing or, if paying by bank transfer, your birthdate in the format DD-MM-YYYY as the variable symbol.

2. Prepare the Document

  • Attach the document that needs to be apostilled.
  • Ensure any required prior authentication has been completed.

3. Payment

  • Stamp Duty: Include the appropriate number of stamp duty stamps in the envelope. These can be purchased at any Czech Post office.
  • Bank Transfer (from April 1, 2024):
    • Pay the required fee to the Ministry’s account (Account No. 16010-17228001/0710, in CZK).
    • Use your birthdate (in the format DD-MM-YYYY) as the variable symbol for the payment.

4. Post Your Submission

  • Send the completed application form, the document, and the stamp duty stamps (or proof of bank transfer) to:

5. Processing Time

  • The legalization process is typically completed on the same day the document is received.
