South Moravian Region - bucket list

Ahoj Everybody,

I hope you already read my previous posts about memorable places I visited with my wife. But those were not all places, they were just most interesting. So, I decided to post quick review about other places. Note that I am covering Southern Moravia only on this post.

Vyškov - If you love zoo, then visit. But this zoo is different, there are mostly domestic animals from Africa. Most probably you have not seen those animals yet. Check this link for animated map. There is also DinoPark, which is great for kids.

Slavkov u Brna - Famous place with the Battle of Austerlitz. If you are fan of "Napoleon history", visit this country town for Slavkov Castle (Zámek Slavkov).

Hodonin - It has one of the nicest zoo in the South Moravia. I have seen first time lion and tiger family here, it worth to visit. Recently they finished construction of climbing tree in front of zoo, that could be fun for family.

Strážnice - If you are in Hodonin, don't go back soon, visit Strážnice too. There is Museum of the Villages of South-east Moravia. But before reaching museum you will pass bridge, which is on top of irrigation channel. This channel passes also Hodonin,  there is special tours with boats. Check this link www.batacanal.cz for details. You can just chill in the one of boat cafes too, as we did :)

Břeclav - Just simple small town. But it got one of the interesting Church design. We had cup of coffee at Café Hostina, which is located across the main street and witnessed wedding ceremony. It was nice. Břeclav is on the way to Valtice. I will not highly recommend to visit town, it is up to you. But where can you find statue like this :)

Mariánské údolí -  We wanted to go and take are ride on Bobovka and we did. It could be little bit scary for some of you, but you should try once. Interesting part of this short trip the route which we took. Usually you get from Mariánské údolí bus station, but we came down from opposite side. Basically we were walking in the middle of "forest". At the end we knew that this is place also for bicycling. If you will come from usual route, there are several cafe/restaurants and play grounds for kids. You don't need extra tickets, assuming you already got ticket for 100+101 zones.

 

Marefy - is a small village in the Vyškov district. There is nothing special about this village. But famous Animal Shelter Tiber (Útulek Tiber) is located here. If you want help them, just contact them in advance for suitable time/date and you can take a walk with dogs, clean up cats' rooms, refresh water/food etc.

Tips: Don't forget to buy weekend tickets, which will save your money.
