miCOOLov

Ahoj Everybody,

Today, 11.08.2018, finally we had less hot weather. As we all know, last 2 weeks were hottest days in Europe.  By anticipating today's forecast, I already made plans to visit another town in Southern Moravia. This time the town of Mikulov

We reached Mikulov by train and bus, there is reconstruction in Mikulov station, so from Břeclav there are buses.

As soon as you get off from bus, castle and belfry are visible. So by then you realize that town is not flat. I didn't know that town is famous with wine; you understand it as soon as you reach center -  cafes, restaurants, vionotekas, shops and etc.

Náměstí, Mikulov

So, our main destination was Cave Turold. We walked there thru narrow paths. I was using Mapy.cz app, which had red line on same path, not sure what was it, but it directed to cave. Most beautiful  part path was Vinohrady street. On the way we witnessed Mikulovske Pivobrani, on area of the amphitheater. Lot's of tents, caravan cars and of course beer "points".

So finally we reached cave, First you buy ticket (100kč for adults) then have to walk towards cave entrance and wait for guide. Here is most important part and our big mistake, naturally most of us know that temperature are lower inside caves. But we didn't expect this low. At least 7 degree differences in body. So at least some jacket is HIGHLY ADVISED to have during tour. I had only t-shirt and it was cold. But this was our first cave tour, so now we know. After tour we went out, sun was on top, but it wasn't enough to warm us. After 20 minutes our body gained normal temperature back.

Beginning of cave tour

I have to mentioned that this was first town in Moravia, where I saw many tourists, mostly from USA. All of them were talking about Czech beer and wine :). Seems town has good tourism strategy.

As I mentioned there is reconstruction in the train station. So we took replacement bus. But bus went till Valtice station, we took train to Břeclav and then train to Brno. This is the only part which was not "cool".

All in all, I highly recommend to visit the town. Just check weather forecasts in advance.

Thank you for reading my story.
