Better late than never - IDS JMK Poseidon

Ahoj All,

Today, Saturday September 1st, we visited Veveří Castle. I guess I should say we visited it late, considering that we are in Brno more than year already. But this post is not about castle, it is about using IDS JMK Poseidon application, which was very useful in our case. Here is an example:

View from Veveří Castle

So, the bus number 303, departures from Zoologická zahrada stop and nearest bus stop from castle is Hrad Veveří (obviously 😀). But this station is located on the zone 310, next to 101. Most probably you already have ticket for 100+101 zones, which will cover only 3 bus stops after departure.

Of course we can buy ticket(s) from bus driver or as I mentioned in other posts, weekend ticket (all zones except 100+101 sounds best option). But in this case there were 4 bus stop and this trip is not so long, so it is possible to pay less then 150kč (weekend ticket).

IDS JMK Poseidon is not new, but I have not used it till now. Honestly, it does not have best user interface, maybe that was the reason. So, except showing you general information about buses, trams, trains and so on, you can also buy tickets from this app. When I say tickets, I mean all possible tickets in Southern Moravia public transportation. You might ask about validating tickets, well app does it when you buy it and links to departure time of bus, tram etc.

Let me walk you through steps, how to buy ticket in IDS JMK Poseidon app:

First, install application from Google Play or AppStore.
Login via Facebook or Google.

Go to Kredit section and charge your account balance. You can use bank transfer, but as you see their bank account is Fio banka, so if  you don't have Fio banka account and want to charge fast, then you can do it via card payment. Choose default amounts and rest is typical payment steps.

After successful payment, you will see amount in the same page. Now go to Vyhledat spojení and choose departure and arrival stops, count of tickets and sale option (children, students, pensioners and so on). Základní is default and means "basic". Click Vyhledat spojení.

After choosing desired departure time and line, click Koupit jízdenku (Please note that in my example I show you line where there is transfer, so we see 2 transport number; Tram #3 and Bus #303. It could be more than one, depending start and end stations). Next you will see confirmation screen; as soon as you click Potvrdit koupi (confirm purchase),  amount will be withdrawn from your balance (Kredit). As you see your ticket(s) will be validated (Platí od) when is departure time of first transport. Validation time lasts usually couple hours, so in case of delay, you are covered.

Go to Jizdenky section, you will see your ticket(s) (in my example there are 2 different tickets). Click on ticket and you will see details. There are also 4 options, which you can show to driver or inspector as proof (QR code is also available).

Back to weekend tickets; well, as I said you can buy all kind of tickets in app. So, go to Jízdenky section, then Rychlé sub-section, choose start stop/station, scroll down (you will see variety of tickets) and click 24 hodin Všechny zóny mimo Brno. Rest is same as ticket purchase confirmation.

All in all, I was not keen to use Poseidon. But now I used it and also recommend you all.

Thank you for reading my story.
