My family visited Brno couple times already. Often people ask me how to send them invitation letter, in order make visa process easier. It is also common question on social networks.
I decided to post and explain from my own experience how to get invitation letters for family members or friends, so they can visit Czech Republic.
In general any person who wants to get "Schengen visa", not exceeding 90 days, has to present proof accommodation and funding during stay period. So, your invitation letter can cover it both.
Go to Foreign Police Service in Cejl 712/62B, 602 00 Brno-střed-Zábrdovice with
Be aware as far as I know no one talks English there. Just say "Dobry den, chtěl(a) bych požádat o pozvánky.", which means "I would like to ask for invitation letters." On the information wall you can find examples and explanations how to fill it. It is very self explanatory.
If you got time and enough amount as a proof of funds, better fill invitation letter there and request for processing. Just show them filled papers and officers will understand. Obviously, they will ask for stamp(s) and passport. It would take a week and they say to come same day of week later to collect papers. Come with passport!
But be aware that this is not all papers needed in order obtain visa; travel medical insurance, transport tickets etc. will be needed for each person. Most probably you already familiar with these, so I don't cover them here.
I did it twice exactly like this and no issues at all.

- Passport
- Proof of funds as extract from bank
- I don't remember how much I presented in extraction exactly, but it always was enough for 2 persons (older 18 years). As I know it is 2200 CZK per day for each person. But exact amount you can learn from police officers.
- Stamp (kolky) in value 300 CZK per person
- Please note that they DO NOT sell it. Buy it in advance from any Post Office.

Hi, I am living in Brno with a long-term residence permir, as I am doing Ph.D. here. My brother wants to visit next summer for 14days. If I want to send him the invitation letter, then I will have show the officer that I have 2,200 kč x 14 days = 30,800 kč in my account. And that's all?
