The Hague, better than Amsterdam

Ahoj All,

Recently I have traveled to Netherlands, where I met my ex colleague, which flew over from Norway with family. We haven't seen each other for 4 years already. I was expecting simple travel to Amsterdam, Netherlands. But as I arrived earlier than them I decided visit The Hague - government capital of Netherlands.

As Netherlands basically flat country, trains go to every city. So, I took train from Schiphol Airport directly to The Hague (30 min). As soon as you get off from train, you are inside big central train station, which is surrounded high vivid buildings.

Along side with The International Court of Justice, the Hague is hosting many important building. If you like taking photos, then there is a lot to take.

But what made the Hague so interesting for me? Why I think it is better than Amsterdam? Answer is simple; almost no tourists. Streets are not crowded, easy to navigate and walk. Still you can explore  expected Dutch streets, houses, shops, cafe, restaurants and of course canals with small bridges.

I had lunch in Appeltje Eitje cafe. Staff, service, meals, coffee and prices were good!

One of things I noticed and still remember that how trams were quiet. And unlike in Brno they don't ring the bell immediately and don't make extra noise. If there is car that blocks in for couple seconds, it will wait. This is highly debatable topic, I think :)

I spent close to 3 hours in The Hague and then went to Amsterdam. You can feel immediately difference.

All in all, I am not saying don't go to Amsterdam, just take half day of your vacation time and visit the Hague. I believe you will not regret it and have good memories.

TIPS: You can buy train tickets from yellow kiosks in Schipol airport. But better buy it from official passenger train service app, you can save 1 euro for each travel.
