14 hours with FFP2 mask - Traveling in March 2021

Ahoj all,

I would like to share my latest travel experience while there is everyday new changes and regulations all over Europe due COVID-19 pandemic.

Day before, while checking in online, I realized that my Lufthansa flight, purchased at the end January, from Prague to Tallinn (transit via Frankfurt) was cancelled, as of February 14th, 2021 Germany will classify the Czech Republic as "an area of variant of concern". On Feb 9th I got email about “change of flight”, but nothing about cancellation. Technically flight was not cancelled, but it was limited to who can enter transit zone. It might sound pointless, as my residency still in Czech Republic, but considering Lufthansa COVID-19 announcements have so many confusing sentences, example, it is allowed to arrive and transfer though Germany, but transit is not allowed from virus variant destination. I made quick decision and changed flight departure to only available option. I rebooked it from Vienna to Tallinn, transit via Frankfurt.

From Brno to Vienna airport.
Luckily there were free seats in Gepard Express mini buses upcoming night (02:20 - 04:10), from Brno Grand Hotel directly to Vienna Airport. At the border, Austrian police checked passport, flight tickets and negative COVID-19 test result. It took less than 2 hours to reach airport.

Departing from Vienna to Frankfurt.
At Vienna airport, when gate was open, they announced random names and I was one of them. They checked my passport and asked some few information (where do you go and reason?). Also I verbally confirmed that I have COVID-19 negative test result, which will be checked in Tallinn. After that I went back to boarding gate. Passengers before me, have been asked to show COVID-19 negative test result. But they didn’t ask me. I was not expecting, but plane was full.

After arrival to Frankfurt Airport.
After landing at Frankfurt, passengers were dropped off by buses. We entered airport from unusual entrance, where border police set perimeter and was checking passport and boarding passes. They instructed whose who has transit to EU countries to go directly border police desk. Some of passengers were in another corner and just waiting. I assume their final destination was Germany. Border police did quick check on me and I went to my flight gate.

And at the end I did arrive Tallinn in time. I had email confirmation of online filled a passenger locator form. Otherwise I had to fill it on paper at the airport. Also no one asked for COVID-19 negative test, despite it is mandatory.

General recommendations are have negative COVID-19 PCR test result, fill all online forms in advance and check official web pages often.

I hope this post will be helpful for you and I will post about return trip.

Thank you all for views.
