Ahoj All,
On May I visited Liberec, in order to buy commemorative Euro banknotes of Liberec Zoo, the oldest zoo in Czech Republic. Click here if you haven't read post about Czech souvenir Euro banknotes. It was short trip, as I mostly waited on the queue. But I noticed that how beautiful and interesting city is. So, I visited Liberec with my wife.
How to get there from Prague; RegioJet buses departure every hour from Černý Most station (last metro station of B yellow line) and Flixbus every 2 hours from Florenc bus stop (which passes also from Černý Most) on weekends. Destination is Liberec Fügnerova stop, main hub of all public transportations.
After arriving go to the Liberec Zoo (bus number X3). Zoo located up on the hill, so it will be easier to walk back to the center later.
I loved zoo, because I saw several animals first time in real life. Such as Southern Ground-Hornbill, with beautiful eyelashes.
Most fun part was petting the Domestic horse - Mini Appaloosa. They are very friendly and curious.

Next destination should be Jizerský potok (brook), where you can feed ducks and have some drink in one of surrounding cafes.
From there you can walk back to the city center via Masarykova street. Trees, straight tram lines and surrounding old houses make this street unforgettable, On the way you pass Technické muzeum Liberec and Regional Gallery. You should check them out too.
Also, if you are vegetarian or vegan, there are plenty option for you. Just Google or search on HappyCow.net in advance for opening hours.
Obviously, I cannot neither cover all nor visit every place in Liberec in one day. Liberec got many destinations; most famous Ješted, highest mountain peak of the Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge, from where you can see Germany and Poland. All in all, it was short planned trip for one day and I highly recommend it.
